The growing market for software testers, is clearly an indication that testing should be taught in mainstream education. Computer Science majors in a Bachelor’s degree, study wide ranging courses like Databases, Networks, Operating Systems, Compilers, System Analysis and design and of course Software Engineering. I believe its time to introduce Software Testing in the mainstream courses.
Currently, Software testing is normally taught as a part of a software engineering course. Of course you do have some universities that offer classes in Software testing as a part of your university academics. However it is yet to take off in India. A lot of training centers do offer training in Software testing, but how many onions and potatoes are churned out is anybody’s guess. Including Software testing in mainstream education should be seriously considered by academicians.
